Privacy Policy
Last updated: 31 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data timeX collects when you use our website and mobile apps, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers customers, delivery riders, and business partners.
1. Data we collect
- Account details: your name, phone number and, if you give it, your email address.
- Partner registration: on this website, your partner type, area, and the details you enter in the form. For riders this includes vehicle and availability. For businesses it includes business name, type and contact person.
- Orders: what you order, delivery addresses, order history and delivery notes.
- Location: customers can share their location to set a delivery address. Riders share their location while they are online or on a delivery, so we can assign orders and show customers where their delivery is. The rider app may collect location in the background during an active delivery, and stops when the rider goes offline.
- Payments: payment method and transaction references. Mobile-money and card payments are processed by the payment provider. We do not store full card or PIN details.
- Device and usage data: device model, operating system, app version, crash reports, and how the app is used, which helps us fix problems.
- Support: messages you send us and call notes.
2. How we use it
- To create and run your account, and to process and deliver orders.
- To contact partners who register, and to onboard riders and businesses.
- To calculate rider earnings and partner payouts.
- To keep the Services safe, prevent fraud, and resolve disputes.
- To send order updates and service messages by SMS, phone or push notification. We send marketing messages only if you agree, and you can opt out at any time.
- To improve the apps and to meet legal obligations.
3. Who we share it with
- To complete an order: the business you order from and the rider delivering it get your name, phone number and delivery location.
- Service providers who host our data, send SMS, process payments or report crashes, under contracts that limit their use of it. These include our database host, Supabase.
- Authorities, when Ethiopian law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
We do not sell your personal data.
4. How long we keep it
We keep account data while your account is open. After you delete it, we keep order and payment records only as long as tax and accounting law requires, and then delete or anonymise them. Partner registrations that do not lead to a partnership are deleted within 24 months.
5. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with access limited to the staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell affected users about a serious breach.
6. Your choices and rights
- See or correct your details in the app, or by contacting us.
- Turn off location access in your phone settings. Some features, such as live tracking or rider work, need it.
- Opt out of marketing messages.
- Ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to delete it.
7. Deleting your account
You can delete your account from the app's profile settings. You can also email partners@timex.et from your registered contact details, with the subject "Delete my account" and your phone number. We delete your account and personal data within 30 days, except for records we must keep by law (see section 4).
8. Children
The Services are not intended for children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
9. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and tell you in the app before important changes take effect.
